ALAM KOUH

Description
Alam-Kouh is second height summit of Iran and highest in the region with 4850 meters of altitude . Located at the heart of Alborz mountain range,This gorgeous summit is located in Kelardasht village, northwest of Tehran province in Mazandaran province , near Caspian Sea. In the Takht-e Suleyman subrange , Alam Kouh is main part of that . This area offers variety activities such as ski touring, alpinism or trekking in different seasons.
The 500 meters high granite wall in the Alam kouh north face , known as Alam Kuh big wall, is one of the attractions of this beautiful summit . Mountaineers from all around the world such as France, Italy, Poland , have opened routes on the wall.
Weather conditions :
Alam Kouh has a rather humid climate due to its closeness to the Caspian Sea so snowfall and rainfall is very often in this mountain. The season of trekking is between June – September and for ski touring April and may are the best months .The best climbing month is July and August due to the stable weather however; climbing this magnificent mountain in June gives mountaineers the opportunity to see snowfields and enjoy the green valleys. Between mid-September to mid-October the climate is rather dry and without rainfall/ snowfall. As winter approaches the weather in Mount Alam gets really cold and heavy snowfall begins .In this area can be tough and specially during the winter time. Its proximity with the caspian sea results in quick and unpredictable weather changes.

TREKKING ROUTES
Alam Kouh has two main faces , one is the south face and the other one the north face of the mountain. The southern route is comfortable for trekking tours as it is a normal trekking route without technical difficulties. Ascending to Alam Kouh by the northern route is more difficult and technical requires more mountain climbing skills and technical guide.
Both southern and northern routes begin at Vandarbon village in Kelardasht. Kelardasht is a 5-6 hour drive away from Tehran and afterwards there’s another 2 hours left till Vandarbon Camp in 2200 meters altitude.
The southern route:
The south face route begins at Tang-e Galu in 2800 m after passing about 20km dirt road. then, the route continues to Hersachal main camp in 3750 m with a nice slope and passes above the beautiful snowfields and small nature lakes . It’s possible to climb other summits in Takht-e Soleyman region located near Hesrachal such as Lashgarak, GardunKuh, Setareh, Menar, South Khersan , North Khersan and Marjikesh by over 4000 meters altitides. and there are good option for the acclimatization before climbing Mount Alam kouh. The rest of the route to Alam Kouh summit is a normal trekking route and takes the mountaineers to the peak by about 5 hours of trekking.
Itinerary
1
Day 1: Departure
Arriving at IKA international airport . We will be there at the exact time of your arrival, Pick you up and transfer you to hotel ( In case of Early arrival and transfer you to Vandarbon by Private car by road about 5 hours in the morning .
- Accommodation in Rooms at Vandarbon Camp 2200m
- Having launch and dinner in camp
- Packing staffs for giving to the mules transportations

Day 2
Transfer to Tang-e Galu 2800 m, the beginning of the southern route by 4WD cars about 1 hour riding on a dirt road .giving staffs for mules transportation and then Trekking about 2-3 hours to Hesarchal camp 3800 m with its seasonal rivers and great combination of snowfields and green fields . set up tents and having lunch. The rest of the day will be spent resting, exploring surroundings and acclimating around Hesarchal Camp.

Day 3
Trekking to Lashgarak peak 4250 m by 2-3 hours and visiting amazing Lashgarak Lake in the way for Acclimatization .At summit have a good view to Alam kouh and other summits in Takht e soleyman range.

Day 4
Summit day, having breakfast in soon morning and trekking to Alam kouh taking about 4 to 5 hours .At summit visiting other face and rest of Takht e soleyman range its possible and also you will meet other teams from different routs . Getting back to the camp and resting there.
Note: In case of arriving to the camp early and have enough energy and time,its possibility to pack and trek back to Tang- e Galu about 1 hour, take the 4WDs back to Vandarbon and spend the night at this village.

Day 5: Return
This morning we leave Hesarchal for Tang-e Galu Then we’ll take the 4WD’s back to Vandarbon Village. We’ll have some hours rest there. We’ll enjoy local food at Kelardasht in a nice restaurant and then we drive to Abbas Abad Jungles and Caspian Sea about 2-3 hours, to get a taste of the stunning nature of the northern part of Iran. We return to Tehran and you’ll be dropped off at your hotel about 3-4 hours .
